Ante
Ante is one of the most important terms that we use during a Teen Patti game. An ante is also known as a forced bet. Basically, at the beginning of the game, a minimum amount is fixed that players will put into the “pot” or wager. Everyone needs to let go of this amount before dealing the cards.
Post
Post is a term that is used when a player leaves a game temporarily and then joins again. If you come back from a break, you need to post an amount of ante for the following deal. The amount of ante will be the same as the ante that was made when you were not present.
Blind
A blind is also a kind of ante. This ante is placed before dealing the cards. A person next to the dealer puts down a small amount of bet, which is known as the small blind. A small blind is usually half of the usual amount. After that, another player who is next to the small blind places the double of the blind. This is known as the big blind.
Call and Raise
This is also known as ‘chaal’. This can be done by a player who is next to the big blind (clockwise). The player can double a small blind or put down more money or chips to increase the bet amount. That is why it is called ‘call and raise’.
Fixed Limit
There is a limit on how high a player bet can. This amount is not determined by any specific amount but depends on what minimum amount the players choose before the start of the game. Fixed limit is equal to call amount. The call amount is double of the previous bet.
Spread Limit
Spread limit stops you from raising a bet higher than a specific amount. It is mentioned in any specific game. If you are willing to call and raise, you need to be aware of the spread limit. For example, if the spread limit is Rs.3000 for a game, you cannot raise a bet more than Rs.3000.
Pot and No Limit
Pot and no limit can be included in certain Teen Patti games. A pot limit allows players to raise the bet up to a specific amount. That specific amount is the sum of all bets on the table. On the other hand, when there is a ‘no limit’, players can raise the bet without any limitation.
Blind Play
Blind play is an interesting concept of Teen Patti game. Basically, a player can play blind, which means that they can play without looking at their cards. If a player is opting for blind play, he/she needs to bet half of a similar amount of the current stake. If the previous player is also doing a blind play, the bet needs to be similar to higher than the current stake for the next player.
Sideshow
Sideshow is a request that a player can make to see another player’s cards. Sideshow can only be done with a player who has placed a previous bet. When a player agrees for a sideshow, two players (one who requested and one who accepted sideshow) will show each other's' cards. During sideshow, a player can fold if he/she has a weaker hand. Sideshow is not allowed for blind players.
Fold
Teen Patti Online Game
A player can quit anytime during the game. This quitting process is called fold. When a player folds, he/she will not get back the forced bet. Folding can be done when someone thinks that they don’t have a good hand, meaning their cards are not high-value ones.
Show
Show is also known as ‘down’. It is a very simple process. When everyone folds except for two players, both of them are required to show their cards. The one with the higher value of cards wins the game and gets all the points.
The rules are fairly simple of a Teen Patti game. Commonly, aces are valued the highest and 2’s the lowest. If you have three same value cards, it will mean that you have a good hand. There are pure sequence cards that are three consecutive cards that come from the same suit. If the cards on the pure sequence do not come from one same suit, it will just be a sequence or ‘straight’. If you fold, you will not get back the money you have a bet. Also, blind players are not allowed for the sideshow.

- As the festivals kick in, India turns to virtual games & card parties
NEW DELHI, Nov. 12, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Covid-19 and its repercussions have shifted one's life online, from office work to entertainment - computer screens have become personal companions unwittingly. Now, with the onset of festive season under social distancing, traditional festivities are being virtually celebrated. Favorite Diwali games - Teen Patti, Rummy and even Tambola can now be enjoyed with the same excitement and in company of friends and family while maintaining social distancing norms. As the festival demands social gatherings and get-togethers, online gaming platforms are creating a huge delight for families to celebrate the rituals together while being healthy and safe.
The rapid evolution and increasing popularity of online games especially in times of COVID-19, as an exciting alternative for entertainment has resulted in creation of multiple online platforms thus, giving a whole new boost to the gaming ecosystem within the Indian economy. According to Google-KMPG report, the Indian online gaming industry is growing at an exponential rate year upon year and is expected to be worth $1.1 billion by 2021. Furthermore, as online gaming is becoming an important source of social engagement, revenue generation through taxes and triggering an influx of employment opportunities because of high-speed internet and smartphones explosion, there is no doubt that this space has a potential to gain a strong foothold within the Indian economy.
Commenting on the exponential growth of the online gaming ecosystem, Saurabh Aggarwal, CEO, Octro Inc., mentioned, 'As the impact of the COVID-19 continues, online gaming industry has been witnessing huge uptake in the number of its userbase as those confined within their houses have sought respite in the virtual world for entertainment. Thanks to the power of internet and technology which has helped changed the Indian online gaming inustry and has made traditional games more accessible. With festivities around the corner, online gaming will become an important aspect of social engagement as everyone will be expected to follow the government norms of social distancing.'
The massive growth in the gaming sector has created immense job opportunities among youths, thus, giving a much-needed boost to the gaming ecosystem within the country. Considering the array of opportunities that skill-based games bring to the country, contemplating ban on such a booming sector is unfitting. Hence, there is a dire need to formulate or introduce robust regulations for licensing regime to make sure transparent online activities are monitored. A legalised online gaming set-up will encourage growth in revenue channel for governments. Considering the exponential growth in the number of online gamers, it can be a sustainable source of revenue.
'Predictable regulatory regime paves the way for scalable investments in gaming startup ecosystem. These investments in gaming startups are good for economy at large and for entire internet ecosystem. Made in India Games have potential to compete globally and acquire players across the world. Active and prospective regulation around skill based games would ensure that venture funded companies acquire scale while employing more people and contributing to more taxes. At Octro we are committed to fair game play and law of the land,' Saurabh Aggarwalfurther added.
As a silver lining to the Covid-19 infused lockdown, Indian online gaming has surged to new highs and especially in the real money gaming sector where friends and family enjoy a game of fantasy cricket or Rummy while staying indoors. However, fun can remain harmless and legit till it is played with rules and responsibly. It is important to set boundaries while gaming, and one should not go beyond a time frame and only play for leisure. Online gaming oblivion is not just unhealthy but also a disservice to an innocuous game which is only meant for entertainment.
